For those of you who like to plan ahead, the list of 2012 themes is a good place to go to get future ideas percolating. However, for those of you who really like to plan ahead, we’ve already got 2013’s themes worked out too! We went through the previous suggestions and feedback, took from those the ones we thought would make the most successful issues, added a few twists of our own devising, and voila:FEBRUARY: HOOKERS AND BLACKJACK
Build your own theme park! But remember, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
MARCH: TEA FOR TWO (F/F SPECIAL)
How do you ladies take your tea? Hot? Sweet? Spiked?
APRIL: PLAYING DOCTOR
Whether you’re suffering from a broken heart or a terminal case of handsomeness, the doctor is in.
JUNE: HEROES AND VILLAINS
Calling all caped crusaders and men of steel: your city needs you now more than ever.
AUGUST: ON WRITING
Bibliophiles, rejoice! This issue celebrates books and the people who like to create, compile, collect, critique, and/or consume them.
SEPTEMBER: DISTANT SHORES (ARTIST SPECIAL)
Our third artist special focuses on far-off places and the fun of going (or not going) there.
Mistaken identities? Clever disguises? Elaborate costuming? Who was that masked man?
DECEMBER: THEME-FREE (BIG BANG*BANG)
And as always, if you want your big story to have its big break, December’s the month to do it: the sky’s the (word) limit.
We’ll work a more detailed schedule of due dates and publication dates as this year winds to a close, but the general pattern will be the same: publication dates are on one of the last Mondays of their respective months, with the artist deadline the Saturday before and the author deadline the Tuesday before.
Also, we’re still looking for some cover artists to grace the front of some of our 2012 and 2013 issues! If you’re interested in being the first thing everyone sees, drop us an email (shousetsubangbang at gmail) and we’ll let you know what’s available.
Look what goodies await! Start planning ahead….
